Pray

Our church family cares deeply about our neighbors who have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey. From Rockport to Corpus Christi, from La Grange to Houston, we are surrounded by South Texas neighbors experiencing great trials and need. Our first response is always to pray.

Heavenly Father,

We pray for rescue for those in danger. We ask that those who are searching, rescuing, and caring for others will be protected in their efforts. May your mercy be upon those who are in need of provision. May your Holy Spirit provide comfort to those who have experienced loss of family, friends, property and security. Empower your people to lead in efforts to bring relief. We ask for funding, donations, and volunteers to be abunant in their care for those who are in need. May your name be lifted up even in the midst of tradgedy. It is in the holy name of Jesus in whom we have received the ulimate rescue that we ask these things.

Amen.

Give

There are many reputable organizations to give to in the time of need. If you have a connection with people doing good work, give to them first. We have relationships or experiences with a couple of organizations that we suggest giving to.

Christ in Action – Denny Nissley has visited The Park in past, and some Park members have given to and volunteered with them in the past. They are sending a team down to Corpus Christi and will be accepting donations and volunteers. CIA does work on clearing trees, debree, cleaning out houses, and providing portable showers, water and needs to survivors.

Children’s Hunger Fund – Collects, organizes, supports and distributes food to those in need. We will be collecting food paks at both Parishes throughout September (Hunger Action Month). CHF is coordinationg efforts for using their network to deliver food to those affected.

San Antonio Food Bank – Providing food, water, diapers, hygiene items, and cleaning supplies to those in need. San Antonio is housing a large number of evacuees from the reigion and SA Food Bank is doing work to help with those needs

South Texas Blood and Tissue Center – There is an increased demand for blood, so the centers supply has been depleted. You can donate blood towards the relief effort.

American Red Cross – Major national organization doing good work. You can sign up to volunteer on their website and they will connect you with opportunties in San Antonio to help.

Park Members Working

We have many people from The Park who have taken initiative to go and work. If you would like to connect with them personally, email info@theparksa.org to get connected with them.
